Farm Bureau leaders learn about mid-state agriculture
Members of the California Farm Bureau Leadership Farm Bureau class traveled to Central California last week as part of an agricultural issues tour that included stops in Tuolumne and Stanislaus counties. While in the foothills near Sonora, par- ticipants toured Standard Mill and heard a presentation on forestry issues from Shaun Crook, owner of Crook Logging Inc. and first vice president of the California Farm Bureau. While in Stanislaus County, the LFB class engaged with farmers, irrigation district leaders and met with Stanislaus
County Farm Bureau Executive Director Caitie Diemel to learn more about issues such as water and farm labor. Through the 10-month leadership de- velopment program sponsored by the California Farm Bureau, class members receive 250 hours of instruction. Leadership Farm Bureau participants gain perspective and training in person- al development, human behavior, public speaking, media relations, political advo- cacy, government structure, key political issues and the Farm Bureau organization and structure.
