How to start seedlings

Pumpkin seeds

• If you start seedlings indoors, take them out into the light as soon as they sprout. Morning light is best. Increase the time outside gradually. Make sure they are watered before putting them out in the sunshine. Plant them after the first set of true leaves appears. • Leggy seedlings need more light. You can also run your hand over the tops of the seedlings a couple times each day to strengthen them. • If you are using grow lights, put the lights just above the tops of the seedlings and move the lights up as the seedlings grow. • If you are putting them near a sunny windowsill, turn the seedlings each day so they do not grow lopsided.
